Notice to RRWA Customers in Des Moines and Henry Counties

The Burlington Municipal Waterworks will change from chloramines to free chlorine for disinfection in the first week of September 2026. This change to free chlorine will last approximately one month. The Burlington Municipal Waterworks makes this change annually to help maintain water quality in their distribution system by ensuring transmission mains remain free of bacterial growth. RRWA customers in Des Moines County and eastern Henry County including the communities of Mediapolis and Mount Union may notice your water has a stronger chlorine taste and smell during this time. Your water is safe to drink. Please contact Jer Buckingham, RRWA’s Plant Superintendent, at 1-800-233-8849 with any questions about your drinking water.
